Operating Instructions

  1. The device turns on automatically, along with other educational and entertaining elements in the MOTIO center.
  2. Illuminated monitors with introductory content indicate readiness for gameplay.
  3. The activity is based on a game where waste is sorted into recycling bins.
  4. Game selection screen offers 3 options — Waste Sorting No. 1, No. 2, No. 3

If you select „Waste Sorting 1“

You’ll play a slightly unconventional memory game (PEXESO):

  • Touching any card starts the timer — this applies at the beginning of the game
  • An image appears
  • Touching another card flips it over
  • If they match — i.e., waste and the correct bin — they remain face-up and are out of the game
  • If they don’t match (e.g., two bins or two waste items), remember their positions; they’ll flip back and return to play
  • Continue pairing waste + bin until the entire field is matched
  • If completed within the time limit, the timer stops
  • If the limit is exceeded, the game resets and a new one is offered

If you select „Waste Sorting 2“

  • Touching any waste image starts the timer
  • Drag the item to the correct bin
  • If incorrect, the bin rejects it, and the item returns to its original position
  • If correct, the item disappears from the selection
  • To exit, touch „Back to Menu“
  • Continue dragging items until the field is cleared; the timer stops
  • If completed within the time limit, your total time is displayed
  • If the limit is exceeded, the game resets and a new one is offered

If you select „Waste Sorting 3“

  • Touching a bin starts the timer
  • If correct, a new waste item appears — continue by selecting the right bin
  • If incorrect, the bin shakes
  • The waste remains visible until correctly sorted
  • To exit, touch „Back to Menu“
  • Once all items are correctly sorted, the timer stops — that’s your result
  • You can return to the menu or continue with a new set of waste items

Interactivity

A compact, three-screen computer setup allows three independent users to test their knowledge of ecology and waste separation — one of many activities aimed at reducing personal carbon footprints. Definitions of carbon footprint categories (direct, indirect, etc.) are included.

The interactive experience is divided into an educational/informational section (wall panels), and a testing section.

Control is via touchscreens with interactive content.

Educational Purpose – Exhibit Concept

Human impact on the environment has always been evident. For a long time, it was relatively manageable, seemingly local, or hard to measure. But now, our numbers have multiplied, and natural resources and space remain unchanged. Environmental interventions are increasing, and air composition is drifting from optimal — not a good sign.

We’ve begun to recognize the consequences of our activities (industry, transport, lifestyle — diet structure, packaging materials, heat and electricity production, etc.) and express them through the concept of the Carbon Footprint.

It represents our share of CO₂ emissions and significant amounts of greenhouse gases (converted to CO₂ equivalent), which we release into the atmosphere in pursuit of comfort and societal development. This has both local and global impacts on environmental quality. Individual responsibility matters — and it’s never too late to change harmful habits.
