User Manual
Device Activation: The device turns on automatically, centrally, along with other entertainment elements in the MOTIO center. A lit monitor, buttons (green, red), and an LED strip indicate readiness for operation.
Game Mode Selection: Choose game mode A/B.
Calculating Meeting Point / Distance from reference point (Žilina):
Use the touch screen.
- Enter the speed of the first vehicle (A) in the top field.
- Enter the speed of the second vehicle (B) in the lower field.
- Calculate by touching the UPDATE field.
- An automatic animation will run on the screen and LED lights on the wooden panel.
Clicking Speed Competition for Two Players:
Use the buttons at the bottom of the board.
- Click either of the two electric buttons (green or red) to choose the game.
- After an agreed signal (e.g., shout: „start!“), start clicking, each with their own button.
- The moving light signal of the more successful player will reach the point from where the defeated player started.
- At the end of the competition, the LED track lights up in the winner’s color.
- Touching the screen ends the game in mode B. The program prioritizes education, in this case, calculation.
Interactivity:
Two Game Modes:
- Mathematical Task:
-
- Visualization of the situation of how far from the selected place on the map (Žilina) the moving points simulating cars will meet after starting simultaneously from opposite origins. Points Bratislava, Košice, and a map with the outline of the Slovak Republic.
-
- By setting the speed values of the point from place A (green, Bratislava) and from the second from place B (red, Košice) on the touch screen, and then pressing the START button, the points will ‚run‘ along the track (simulating movement with lights) towards each other. As both points move – red and green – the paths behind them light up. At the meeting point, the LED lights up white.
-
- The player calculates the parameters before the start, which they verify by starting the light track activity.
- Fun Game for Two Participants:
-
- The start of the game is initiated by simultaneously clicking on both sides on a given command. One participant starts from point A (left, green), the other from B (right, red). Each click corresponds to a forward movement by one light point. The person reaching the other’s starting point first wins. The entire track lights up in the winner’s colour.
-
- In case of a handicap, when one participant has an obvious advantage (age advantage, health conditions, etc.), they can enter the game only after the disadvantaged participant has already covered (by consensus) a certain part of the track.
Educational Significance:
Logical thinking, basic mathematics, simple proportions, equations. While these are subjects taught in school, in practice, we often rely on computers, internet sources, or applications. But what if we face a power outage, signal loss, or software failure? Will we be able to solve a simple task? It’s not enough to throw up our hands; we need to find a solution. Everything we need to solve the problem is available. We simply need to engage our brains, recall logical connections, and put them in the right relationship. Mathematics is not a boogeyman. At this level, combined with physics, it is quite interesting and useful.
