Operating Instructions:
- The device turns on automatically along with other educational and entertainment elements in the MOTIO center.
- A lit display indicates the system is ready.
- Lift the wand above one of the two circular bases. (If it’s resting on the base, grab the handle and lift the ring slightly to interrupt the conductive contact.)
- Touch the metal base around the wire’s foot with the ring to start the timer.
- Carefully guide the wand along the shaped metal wire to the opposite end of the track without letting the ring touch the wire.
- Any unwanted contact between the ring and the wire adds a 5-second penalty to your final time.
- Press the metal ring to the circular contact at the end of the wire path to finish the game.
- The display will show your time (as “last”) and the best recorded time (“best”). If you don’t finish within 100 seconds or accumulate too many penalties, the word “stop” will appear, and the attempt will not be counted.
- To start a new game, lift the ring (as in step 3) and touch the metal base again.
- You can choose either the left or right side as your starting point.
Interactivity:
This simple test evaluates the steadiness and tension control of the hand’s muscle groups, as well as the visitor’s fine motor skills and endurance.
The conductive wire is shaped to allow a moderately challenging path for the insulated ring on the wand. Completing the task requires focus and concentration to avoid contact throughout the course.
Educational Value – Exhibit Concept:
It’s not just a clear mind that matters—often, a steady, firm, and flexible hand is key to success.
It wouldn’t be only the gunslingers of the Wild West who would agree—surgeons, painters, precision technicians, watchmakers, operators, drivers, and many others rely on steady hands and nerves every day.
This exhibit offers a chance to test your ability to concentrate and control fine movement in a low-pressure environment.
The judge is an impartial electronic system that tracks every mistake.
And here you’ll find that not everything that looks simple really is so. Success may be within reach—but making a mistake is just as easy.
This is a place where finishing the task matters, even if it’s not flawless.
